Connecting Shopify to WhatsApp for Arabic-speaking stores

How to connect your Shopify store to WhatsApp with ATMET Chat — installing from the Shopify App Store, using it inside Shopify admin, connecting your number and turning on the first message your customers receive, plus what works on Shopify and what doesn't.

If your store is on Shopify and your customers speak Arabic, this guide is for you: in Arabic, with the real steps as they are today — installing ATMET Chat from the Shopify App Store, using it from inside Shopify admin, connecting your number, and turning on the first message your customers receive.

What does ATMET Chat do in your Shopify store?

ATMET Chat is an app that reads your products, customers and orders from Shopify, and sends your customers the WhatsApp messages you turn on, in your own words:

  • Order confirmations and status updates, from the Plus plan.
  • Abandoned cart reminders, from the Plus plan.
  • WhatsApp campaigns to your store's customers, from the Plus plan.
  • A WhatsApp button on your storefront, from the Plus plan.
  • AI customer service, from the Pro plan.

Each feature is covered in detail on the ATMET Chat for Shopify page.

How do you install ATMET Chat from the Shopify App Store?

  1. Open ATMET Chat's page on the Shopify App Store.
  2. Press "Install". Installing starts your 7-day free trial with every Ultra feature.
  3. Approve the app's permissions. Shopify shows you the data ATMET Chat needs before you agree.
  4. ATMET Chat opens with you already signed in, fully inside your Shopify admin.

After installation, ATMET Chat imports your products and customers, starts receiving your new orders from Shopify, and adds the WhatsApp button to your storefront with no theme edits.

How do you choose your plan, and what do you pay?

You choose your plan after installing, on the Account page in ATMET Chat, and Shopify bills you for it in US dollars every 30 days:

  • Plus: $13.07
  • Pro: $26.40
  • Ultra: $66.40

There's no yearly plan on Shopify. Details are on the ATMET Chat for Shopify page.

How do you connect your WhatsApp number?

From the WhatsApp page in your ATMET Chat dashboard, in two ways:

  • Official WhatsApp API connection: your number connected to Meta's official WhatsApp interface. You press "Continue with Facebook", sign in, choose your Business Portfolio, enter your number and confirm from your phone. You can connect a new number, or your current WhatsApp Business app number, in which case the app keeps working on your phone.
  • ATMET Chat channel: your number linked as a device by scanning a code from "Linked devices" in WhatsApp, on every plan with no message fees.

Campaigns go through the official connection only, and if you connect your current app number both ways, you choose the route for each notification. A new number connected to the official API without the app can't also take the ATMET Chat channel, so the official connection is its only route. The official connection steps are the same on every platform, laid out in detail in the guide Connecting Salla to official WhatsApp.

Does the WhatsApp Business app keep working on your number?

Yes. If you connect your current WhatsApp Business app number to the official API and choose to keep using the app, the app stays on your phone and ATMET Chat replies from the same number. Four things to know:

  • Update the app to the latest version, and keep your phone with you to scan the code during the connection.
  • Devices linked to the number, such as WhatsApp Web, are unlinked during the connection — and so is an ATMET Chat channel on the same number — so link them again afterwards.
  • Open the app at least once every two weeks to keep the connection going.
  • If you reply to a customer yourself from the app, automatic replies pause in that conversation for a while.

Which messages do you turn on first?

Every message starts switched off. On the Automatic notifications page:

  1. New order: a confirmation message the moment the customer places their order.
  2. Order status updates: on Shopify, one text reaches the customer with every change in their order's status — such as payment, fulfilment and refund — carrying the status name, so word it to fit every status. Shopify has no Delivered status.
  3. Abandoned cart reminder: when the customer leaves the checkout page without completing their order, they get one WhatsApp reminder after the delay you set, with a link back to their order.
  4. Press Save settings.

You write each message yourself and add the order's details from variable buttons such as {First name}, {Order number} and {Tracking link}.

Do your messages go out in Arabic on Shopify?

Yes. The ATMET Chat dashboard works in Arabic as well as English, and you write the text of every message yourself, in Arabic if you like. The order status and the currency appear in Arabic in the messages — a shipped order's status reaches the customer as «تم شحن الطلب», for example.

On the official connection, ATMET Chat submits ready-made starter templates in English for Shopify stores, and you can write your own Arabic templates in the template builder, or copy ready examples from Ready-made message templates. Note that the order status and currency are written in Arabic even inside an English template, so leave them out of English templates.

How do abandoned cart reminders work on Shopify?

ATMET Chat hears about the checkout page when the customer creates or updates it, and if the order isn't completed, it sends them one reminder after the delay you set — one hour by default. Customers who bought in the last 24 hours don't get it.

The reminder can carry a discount code that ATMET Chat creates in your Shopify store, usable once. From the Pro plan the code carries the customer's own name. Details are in the abandoned cart guide.

Can you send WhatsApp campaigns to your Shopify customers?

Yes, from the Plus plan: you send a campaign to your Shopify store's customers or to cart abandoners, with a marketing template approved by Meta on the official connection, sorted and filtered by their orders, carts and past campaigns. From the Pro plan you can upload your own list from an Excel or CSV file. After each campaign you see how many messages were delivered and read, and the orders and revenue that followed.

What does the AI do for your Shopify store?

From the Pro plan, the AI assistant answers your customers' WhatsApp messages from your store's products, from their orders by order number or phone, from Store information, which it fills in from your store, and from Store policies, which you write yourself. When a customer needs a person, it escalates the conversation to your team.

From the Pro plan the assistant also works inside your store's widget, and tracks an order by its number for site visitors.

What do you pay Meta for messages?

On the official connection, Meta charges for template messages by type and the customer's country, paid to Meta directly with no commission from ATMET — so it isn't added to your Shopify bill. In Meta's current pricing, the first 1,000 service replies a month are free per number. The ATMET Chat channel has no message fees. Rates by country are on the Meta pricing page.

What does the Pro plan add for your team and customers?

From the Pro plan your team gets a WhatsApp alert for every new order in your store, so they can start preparing it without opening Shopify admin. From the Pro plan the discount codes in your messages carry the customer's own name, so they know the code was made for them alone. Along with these come the AI assistant on WhatsApp and in your store's widget, and campaigns from an Excel file.

What doesn't work on Shopify?

Some features need data Shopify itself doesn't have, so they run on Salla and Zid only:

  • Review requests and replies to reviews: Shopify has no reviews of its own, and its orders carry no review link.
  • Birthday messages: Shopify has no birthday field for customers.
  • The short national address: a Saudi scheme Shopify doesn't carry.
  • Free-shipping coupons and payment-method exclusions.

What does the Ultra plan add on Shopify?

On the Ultra plan: a WhatsApp alert for everyone waiting on a sold-out product when it's back in stock — on Shopify per product, not per size or colour. Plus a welcome message for every new customer in your store, which can arrive beside the first order confirmation, because a guest checkout creates a new customer in Shopify. And workflows you build yourself, starting from an order, a cart or a customer's message.

How do you start?

  1. Install ATMET Chat from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Open the WhatsApp page and connect your number.
  3. Under Automatic notifications, turn on order confirmations and status updates, then the cart reminder.
  4. Choose your plan on the Account page before your free trial ends.
