Connecting Salla to official WhatsApp

How to connect your Salla store to Meta's official WhatsApp API with ATMET Chat — from installing the app from the Salla App Store, to connecting your number while keeping the WhatsApp Business app on your phone, to the first notification your customers receive.
If your store is on Salla and you want your messages to reach customers from an official number, the way is Meta's official WhatsApp interface (WhatsApp API). This guide walks you through the real steps as they are today: installing ATMET Chat from the Salla App Store, connecting your number to the official API, then turning on the first notification your customers receive.
What does connecting Salla to official WhatsApp mean?
It means your store sends its messages through the WhatsApp interface Meta provides for businesses, not through an app on a phone: order confirmations, shipping updates, cart reminders, review requests and campaigns all go out from your number using templates approved by Meta.
What does the official connection add? Campaigns to your customers with approved marketing templates, within the daily sending limits Meta sets; interactive messages with buttons and lists; and notifications you start yourself even after the conversation window with the customer has closed.
That's where an app like ATMET Chat comes in: you install it from the Salla App Store so it reads your store's orders, customers and carts, then connect your number to the official API from inside it. ATMET Chat is a Meta Business Partner.
What do you need before you start?
- A store on Salla, with permission to install apps on it.
- A Facebook account to sign in with during the connection.
- A Meta Business Portfolio, or you create one during the connection.
- The WhatsApp number you want to connect: a new number for the store, or your current WhatsApp Business app number.
- Your phone with the WhatsApp Business app updated to the latest version, if you want to keep the app on the same number.
- A computer, which is easier than a phone for the Facebook steps.
Step 1: how do you install ATMET Chat from the Salla App Store?
- Open ATMET Chat's page on the Salla App Store, where it's listed in Arabic as «أتمت شات ذكاء اصطناعي للواتساب».
- Press install and choose your plan: monthly or yearly.
- Approve the permissions the app asks for: reading orders, products, customers and abandoned carts, creating coupons, and payment and shipping methods.
Every plan has a 7-day free trial with every feature open, and you pay through Salla. Plan prices are before the 15% VAT that Salla adds at checkout: Plus 49 SAR, Pro 99 SAR and Ultra 249 SAR a month, and a yearly plan gives you 12 months for the price of 11. Details are on the ATMET Chat for Salla page.
What happens right after you install?
- Your account is created automatically in ATMET Chat, and your login details arrive by email and WhatsApp at the same time: the email has a direct login link with your username and a temporary password, and the WhatsApp message has your username and temporary password.
- If you sign in with the temporary password, you're asked to change it the first time.
- You open the ATMET Chat dashboard at my.atmet.app, or from inside your Salla dashboard.
- The WhatsApp button is added to your storefront automatically.
- ATMET Chat starts reading your store: products and customers, and it receives new orders and their updates, abandoned carts and reviews.
Step 2: how do you connect your number to official WhatsApp?
In the ATMET Chat dashboard, open the WhatsApp page, and on the official WhatsApp API connection card press "Continue with Facebook". A Facebook window opens, where you:
- Sign in to Facebook.
- Choose your Business Portfolio, or create one.
- Choose "Connect a WhatsApp Business app" if you're connecting your current app number.
- Enter the WhatsApp number you're connecting and continue.
- Confirm from your phone: to keep your number on the WhatsApp Business app, choose to keep using the app, then scan the code from the app.
- Wait for the connection to finish. It can take up to a minute, so don't close the page until it says it's connected.
If something goes wrong, press "Trouble connecting? Talk to us" on the same page to open a ticket or book a meeting.
It's a good idea to add a payment method in your Meta account, because message fees are paid to Meta directly.
Does the WhatsApp Business app keep working on your number?
Yes, if you connect your current number and choose to keep using the app: the app keeps working on your phone as usual, and ATMET Chat replies from the same number. You'll see "Connected — your number now works with the app and ATMET together." Four things to know:
- Update the app to the latest version, and keep your phone with you to scan the code during the connection.
- Devices linked to the number, such as WhatsApp Web, are unlinked during the connection — and so is an ATMET Chat channel on the same number — so link them again afterwards.
- Open the app on your phone at least once every two weeks to keep the connection going.
- If you reply to a customer yourself from the app, automatic replies pause in that conversation for a while.
What does ATMET Chat set up automatically after you connect?
- Ready-made Arabic templates: ATMET Chat submits its starter templates for Salla stores to Meta for review, including order confirmation, order status updates, abandoned cart reminder, review request, reply to a review, birthday greeting, and a new-order alert for your staff. Meta says review can take up to 24 hours.
- Your customers from your chats: if you connected your current app number, ATMET Chat adds the people from your recent conversations to your customer list. The earlier messages themselves stay in the app.
- Learning from your chats: from the Pro plan, ATMET Chat offers to read your recent conversations once to suggest instructions for the AI assistant.
Step 3: which notifications do you turn on first?
Every notification starts switched off, so nothing reaches your customers until you turn it on. Under Automatic notifications:
- New order: turn it on, choose the Official API connection route, and choose the order confirmation template.
- Order status updates: turn it on and choose the order status template. ATMET Chat's ready-made templates also include one for the Shipped status, carrying the shipping company, tracking number and tracking link, which you bind to that status specifically.
- Abandoned cart reminder: choose how many hours after the cart is left it goes out, and add a coupon if you want. Details in the abandoned cart guide.
- Review request: choose the status that starts the count and the number of hours. Details in the review request guide.
- Press Save settings.
A template still in review can be chosen now, but the notification sends nothing until Meta approves it. Examples of templates you write yourself are in Ready-made message templates.
What does Salla's data add to your messages?
Salla gives ATMET Chat data you can add to your messages and coupons, most of it available on Zid too:
- {Review link}, which opens the order's review page on Salla.
- {Cashback amount}, the cashback the customer earned on their order.
- {Short address}, the short national address.
- Wider coupon options: free shipping, excluding certain payment methods such as Tamara, and excluding discounted products on Salla.
Should you connect the ATMET Chat channel too?
If you connected your current WhatsApp Business app number to the official API, we recommend both on the same number. A number connected to the official API without the app can't be linked through the ATMET Chat channel.
The ATMET Chat channel links the number by scanning a code from "Linked devices" in WhatsApp, like WhatsApp Web, and it's available on every plan with no message fees. Each route has its role: campaigns go through the official connection only, and for each notification you choose the route that suits you.
On the WhatsApp page, press "Link number" on the ATMET Chat channel card, then in WhatsApp on your phone open "Linked devices", tap "Link a device" and scan the code. The first setup usually takes 3 to 5 minutes.
How much does the official connection cost?
- Your ATMET Chat plan: paid through Salla as in step 1, and the official connection is included.
- Meta's fees: Meta charges for template messages by type and the customer's country, paid to Meta directly with no commission from ATMET. In Meta's current pricing, the first 1,000 service replies a month are free per number, and replies beyond that have been charged since October 1, 2026.
Rates by country are on the Meta pricing page, and everything ATMET Chat does for stores is on the ATMET Chat for stores page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I lose the WhatsApp Business app on my phone if I connect my number to the official API?
No. Choose to keep using the app during the connection and scan the code from the app, and it keeps working on your phone while ATMET Chat replies from the same number. Open the app at least once every two weeks to keep the connection going.
How long does the connection take?
Installing the app takes minutes, and connecting the number can take up to a minute after you finish the Facebook steps. Templates are reviewed by Meta, which can take up to 24 hours.
Do messages go out to my customers as soon as I install?
No. Every notification starts switched off, and you turn it on and choose its template under Automatic notifications.
Can I do the official connection from my phone?
You can, but a computer is easier, because a phone opens Facebook in the same tab and then comes back. Either way you'll need your phone to confirm the connection in the WhatsApp Business app.
Does ATMET charge extra for the official connection?
No. You pay your plan through Salla, and Meta's message fees are paid to Meta directly with no commission from ATMET. The first 1,000 service replies a month are free per number.
